Hi. My name is Sam and my relationship with art goes a long way back. As a primary school student one of my fondest memories of school was of being voted in class by my peers as completing the best painting. Maybe not a bit thing for some, but as a non-sports person and averaged student this moment stands out in my early school memories. A couple of years later I also recall being gifted a small pack of oil paints by my parents. By then I was a teenager and once again this little pack of oil paints ignited my interest in creativity. It probably shouldn't seem surprising then that at the age of 17 I left the family home in Crookwell NSW to embark on four years of training to become an art teacher. At the end of those four years ( and another two doing a Graduate Diploma in Ceramics) I realised I loved art but wasn't so keen on the teaching component. Several years passed and during this time I got married, did the odd casual teaching job and struggling to find permanent paid employment. After a period of time I decided to head in a different direction, away from art, and returned to University to complete a Bachelor of Social Worker. Twenty plus years later I still work as a Social Worker and during this time my passion for art has continued but its practice has ebbed and flowed. Over the last two years I have become more serious about completing art and have ventured into the world of experiment. This has brought me to the world of fluid art and the dirty pours. I finds this a very interesting and sometimes unpredictable art form that is both magical and scary at the same time. As a newbie I still find it hard to predict what might appear from the mix of colours I have put together and this is a process that keeps me intrigued. The art on my website https://samzok.wixsite.com/splashofcolour represents a lot of my recent experimentations. Please feel free to look through my art and of course purchase if you see something you like. Most of the pieces are very affordable as a reflection of my being in an experimental phase. If you have something in mind but can't see it on the site please feel free to discuss a commission with me. A commission doesn't necessarily mean it will be more expensive as I am always keen to try new ideas. Enjoy.
